One of my favorite things about living in the northwest is the way the various communities try to serve their citizens by providing special times during the year to create memories. While it's not possible to show all of the events in all of the local communities, here are some of the special times that the City of Edmonds provides each year.
Local folks get to enjoy the open air Saturday market from May through November, classic auto shows on the downtown streets, and numerous special times for kids! Its party time on Halloween evening as the merchants open their doors to serve the local families. And who can forget the opportunity given to the kids and families on the Fourth of July when the kids get to be in their very own parade ahead of the "regular" adult parade each year?
Consider the waterfront parks, lots of great shops and restaurants, a weekly art walk, and a nationally recognized summer art festival and one begins to realize that quality of life truly begins in some of these small towns such as Edmonds...
Downtown Edmonds Antique Auto Show
These are photos from one of the summer auto shows in Edmonds. The City streets are closed for the afternoon and it's time for a walk down Memory Lane. Come see the car you gave away 30 years ago and shed a few tears. Then set that aside and enjoy the day!
July 4th Celebration and Parade in Downtown Edmonds
What could be more exciting than to have your very own parade when you're a kid? Well, that's what happens every July 4th! The kid's parade precedes the regular parade. I think it's the best part!
The Downtown Edmonds Saturday Market
Time to close the streets again! This time it's downtown Edmonds (The locals call this area the Edmonds "Bowl"). Every Saturday from May through November, come visit the Market! Choose a home-made item for your home, or buy some fresh produce for dinner that night. Sample the goodies but be sure to leave room for lunch at one of the wonderful local restaurants!
Halloween in Edmonds
Boy, the City officials sure like to close the streets a lot! Keep things safe and sane and bring the kids to the Downtown area at dusk. Funny... scary.... cute... unusual... it's all here on this special night of fun.
